Dorothy Pearl Purdy, the daughter of Charles and Lela (Dixon) Arnett, was born at Phillips, Nebraska, on September 23, 1914, and passed away at Grand Island, Nebraska, on December 14, 2018, at the age of 104.

She grew up in the Phillips area, where she graduated from Phillips High School in 1934.

On June 20, 1935, she was united in marriage to Alvin Wesley Purdy at York, Nebraska. They farmed on the Purdy family farm. Alvin passed away on January 13, 1997.

Dorothy was a very involved member of the Phillips United Methodist Church over the years. She was a Sunday School teacher for many, many years, helped with many funeral dinners and was active in the Women's Group. Dorothy enjoyed belonging to the BB Club in Phillips.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Leland, Charles, Orville and George Arnett; four sisters, Ila Arnett, Opal Ackerman, Eunice Debban and Wilma Debban and grandson, Chuck Purdy.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her three children, Darrell (Phyllis) Purdy of Aurora, Eldon (Jane) Purdy of Omaha and Marilyn (Dale) Stueven of Grand Island; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
