Marilyn Stueven, age 83, of Grand Island, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021 at CHI-St. Francis Medical Center.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 11th at the Phillips Methodist Church. Pastor Peter Jenks will officiate.

Marilyn Marie Stueven, the daughter of Alvin Wesley and Dorothy Pearl (Arnett) Purdy, was born in Phillips, Nebraska on June 1, 1938 and passed away in Grand Island, Nebraska on November 8, 2021, at the age of 83.

Marilyn grew up in Phillips and graduated from Phillips High School in 1955 and Grand Island Business College in 1957.

Marilyn worked at Grand Island Finance, was a teller at Fonner Park and was supervisor of the kitchen for over 20 years at the Saddle Club.

Marilyn was married to Dale Stueven on July 21, 1975. They made their home in Grand Island and had been married for 46 years.

Marilyn enjoyed baking, crafting, decorating for the holidays, especially making Christmas candy.

She liked NASCAR, reading, collecting tins and cans.

Marilyn loved her dog, cats and all animals in general. Purple was her favorite color, and many of her favorite things were that color.

She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew, Chuck Purdy.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Dale of Grand Island; 7 children, Rex (Carrie) Dawkins of Grand Island, Richard (Paris) Stueven of Zimmerman, MN, Robert Dawkins of Fullerton, Sandra (Dale) Price of Hastings, Matt (Ida) Stueven of Grand Island, Susan (Brian) Gardner of Sidney, IA and Marci Stueven & Clyde Cook of Aurora; 7 grandchildren, Jessica Green, Leslie Green, Jami LaForge, Jacob Coehn, Brianna Lancaster, Allen Dawkins and Wyatt Stueven; 3 step grandchildren, Matt Price, Ashley Gardner and Tyler Gardner and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two brothers, Darrell (Phyllis) Purdy of Aurora and Eldon (Jane) Purdy of Omaha and other family members and friends.
