SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for our loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, January 16, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Shreveport, LA. Fr. James McLelland will officiate. Interment will follow at Forest Park St. Vincent with military honors.

Mr. DeBroeck, affectionately known as "Pepaw", was born May 31, 1915, in St. Louis, MO and returned to our Lord on Friday, January 13, 2012, after a brief illness.

Hubert was a strong man of faith and integrity with love for God, family, and country. He will be forever missed and always remembered.

Hubert graduated from St. John's High School of Shreveport, LA in 1932. He served his country proudly during World War II, as part of the 204th AA Battalion, with an honorable discharge as a 1st Sergeant. He was a member of the LA National Guard. He was the co-owner of Service Dental Lab. As a member of St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, he served as of a member of the Men's Club, various boards, past member of the Parish Council, worker at the Community Center, and food give-away program. He cherished his annual visits to Manresa Retreat House. American Legion Post #6 was proud to call him a loyal member. Always interested in sports, he coached many boys' youth teams and was very active in the community. He received a Diocesan Award from Bishop Friend for his services.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Watts DeBroeck; his parents, Mr. Peter DeBroeck and Mrs. Margaret Mary Roeckers DeBroeck, seven brothers, Raymond, Joseph, John, Harold, Henry, Paul and Julius "Nuffy" DeBroeck; and one sister, Marie DeBroeck McGowan. He is survived by his daughter Janice DeBroeck of Shreveport, LA and son Peter DeBroeck and wife Jill Moore DeBroeck of Gretna, LA. He is also survived by his four granddaughters Jennifer Holley (Brian) of New Orleans, LA, Maggie Overby (Charles) of Enterprise, AL, Kellie Soileau (Marc) of New Orleans, LA, and Sara Pitz (Joseph) of Baton Rouge, LA, five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Charles Watts, Henry A. DeBroeck, Jr, Danny McGowan, Mike McGowan, Chris DeBroeck and Mike DeBroeck. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jay DeBroeck, Edward McGowan, and Barry J. DeBroeck.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Alan J. Borne, the nurses and staff of Christus Schumpert Highland Hospital, 2nd floor, South Shreveport Dialysis Clinic at Ashley Ridge, and Grace Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Grace Home, 1035 Margaret Place, Shreveport, LA 71101 or St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 15th from 4:00PM until 6:00PM at Rose Neath Southside Chapel. Rosary will follow.
