Charles S. Garrison, 96, of Topinabee, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Golden Beach Manor in Millersburg.

He was born September 4, 1915 in Putman County, Tennessee, the 9th child of 12 children born to Robert and Ruth (Maynard) Garrison.

Charles' family moved from Tennessee to California about 1925, and after living in several locations they settled in Redding, California, where Charles graduated from Redding "Shasta" High School. He then enrolled in a trade school in San Francisco, California where he learned the trade of sheet metal and a working knowledge in all phases of construction.

He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in both the Philippines and Japan. His career took him to many 3rd world countries, and he also visited others where he did not work.

Upon his retirement in 1981, he settled in Allen Park and married Gail Chamberlin. In 1988 they relocated to Topinabee, Gail's home town.

Surviving is his loving wife, Gail, her four children, Donna (Ken) Petry of Taylor, David (Donna Lee) Urton of Dearborn, Susan (Mike) McDougal of University Place, Washington, and Chris (Frank) Haas of Northville, their extended families, and many nieces, and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and 11 brothers and sisters. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services at this time.

The Nordman-Christian Funeral Home is caring for the family.
