Ruth was a kind, hard working person. She had a large family of 12 children to raise; William Claud, Maud Jane, John Jackson, Dorsa Mae (my mother),Clara Angeline, Robert Hurshel, Nancy Myrtle, Mary Ethel, Charles Samuel, Arthur Howard, William Earl and Pearl Marie Garrison. She did the very best that she could to provide for their needs.
When little Mary Ethel was just a few weeks old she died in her sisters arms (Nancy). She is buried in Putnam County, Tennessee. This must have grieved this blessed mother and father and the whole family. Bless her heart....she was a noble soul that loved her family and served them all of her life. That is one of the greatest tributes any one could have....she blessed the lives of others by her service to them. She followed the Savior and treated others as she would like to be treated. Her posterity hold her in high esteem for all that she was in goodness and kindness and for all of her hard work and service to others over many, many years. I will always love her and I believe I speak for all who knew her, she was a most kind and thoughtful soul....an angel among us.
I shall never forget the day she died. The hospital room in Redding, California, was on the ground floor and the window was open. The adults were around her bed and my sisters and I outside the window, close enough to see them and hear them as they cried over her passing. She was a much beloved mother to them all and a wonderful grandmother to all her grandchildren.
