Betty LelaMae (Lowe) McCoy, age 88, of Washington, Iowa, formerly of Crawfordsville, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 03, 2012 at the Halcyon House surrounded by her beloved family and friends.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the United Church of Crawfordsville with services conducted by Rev. Nancy Oehler-Love and Larry Fletcher. Visitation will begin noon Friday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m Friday. Memorial services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Morrison Center of Halcyon House. Interment will take place at a later date in the Crawfordsville Cemetery in Crawfordsville, Iowa.

Betty LelaMae (Lowe) McCoy was born October 27, 1923 at the Washington County Hospital, and was one of eight children born to the late Clarence and Nina (Bolan) Lowe. She graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1941 and has been a life-long resident of Washington County.

She married Cleo McCoy, her high school sweetheart, on September 30, 1943 and they recently celebrated 68 years of marriage. After 12 years of marriage, Cleo and Betty were blessed with two daughters, Robyn and Lorna, born exactly 11 months apart and then six years later a son, Craig.

Betty loved living on the family farm between Crawfordsville and Washington and then later in life, Cleo and Betty retired from farming and wintered 16 years in the Arizona sun as Snowbirds. Among the many hobbies Betty enjoyed was growing big family gardens to feed family and friends during their many get-togethers, her long-time membership in the local farming organization called Braden Club, and her status as an Ace Bridge player in Washington and Arizona.

She is survived by her loving husband, Cleo McCoy of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Robyn Lamb and husband Bob of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; daughter, Lorna Wind and husband Tim of Kansas City, Kansas; son Craig "Buzz" McCoy and wife Karen of Crawfordsville, Iowa; three grandsons, Matt Lamb and wife Jessica of Mt. Morris, Illinois; Marty Lamb of Iowa City, Iowa; Air Force Lieutenant Jordan Wind of Kansas City, Kansas; and one brother, Robert Lowe of Brea, California.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
