Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Phyllis (Max) Anderson, Salt Lake City, Utah; three sons, Robert, Valley Springs, and Rodger and Richard, San Fernando, California; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four brothers, Otho Shafer, Madison, SD; Harold Shafer, Sioux Falls; Elmer Shafer, Valley Springs, and Aaron Shafer, Brandon, SD; and three sisters, Mrs. Olai Ronning, Dell Rapids, Mrs. Henry Nerison, Sioux Falls, and Mrs. Josie Coulter, Pine River, Minnesota.
