Iris Dixon Fennel, 92 of Jesup, died Thursday,February 15th, at Satchell's Assisted Living Facility in Caro, MI under the care of Hospice. The Pierce County native lived most of her life in Jesup until moving to Michigan several years ago to be near her daughter, Kay Patterson. She was a member of the Anderson Drive Baptist Church. Iris was raised in a loving Christian family on a farm in Bristol. She graduated from Blackshear High School where she played basketball all 4 years. She was very much a people person and enjoyed good times with her many friends. For several years she worked with her sister, Jean at the Kiwi Restaurant and loved it so much because she could see and meet so many different people. She also had fun pulling pranks on unsuspecting customers. They loved her! She also enjoyed living in Germany and traveling while her husband, Herman, was in the military. She was predeceased by her husband, Herman Fennell, parents, Joseph Benjamin and Alma Winn Dixon, brothers, Gernie and Alvis Dixon and step daughter, Ann Fennell.

Iris is survived by two daughters, Kay Jones Patterson (Pat) of Ubly, MI, Sandra Jones (Gloria Whiteman) of Port Orange, Fla.; a son, Ricky(Cindy) Jones of Blackshear; a sister, Jean Tyre Gassett of Jesup; grandchildren, Gary (Donna) Patterson of Columbus, Terry (Maggie) Patterson of Chesaning, MI, Eric (Jessica) Patterson of Caseville, MI, James (Laura) Bazemore of Cumming and Lee (Emily) Bazemore of Blackshear; several great and great-great grandchildren and two stepsons, Rob (Lisa) Fennell and Joey Fennell.

Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. John Brown and Rev. Vann Dempsey officiating. Private family interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Gary Patterson, Terry Patterson, and Eric Patterson, great grandson, Trevor Patterson and great nephews, Bobby Lamb and Andy Lamb. An honorary pallbearer will be her special great-great grandson, Eli Patterson.

Visitation will be 4 to 6 P.M. Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the funeral home.
