Mr. Privett was born in Maryville, Tenn. He moved to Muncie as a child and attended local schools.
He worked for the Muncie Street Department during the 1920s and early 1930s and later worked 40 years for the Delaware Trucking Company, retiring in 1969. He was a former member of the Teamster's Union.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Cleo Wright Privett; a son, James McKinney (wife-Ruby), Muncie; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sons, Hubert Privett Jr., in 1940, Richard McKinney, in 1963, and Paul McKinney, earlier this year.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Parson Mortuary-Adams Chapel. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, north of Muncie. Calling will be 6-8 p.m. today and a half-hour before services Tuesday at the mortuary.
