A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Messiah United Methodist Church, 1300 N. Beaver St., York, with her pastor, the Rev. W. Michael Langford, Sr. officiating. A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church.
Born September 30, 1924, in Springfield Twp., York Co., a daughter of the late Norman A. and Nettie A. (Lentz) Stambaugh, she was a 1942 graduate of William Penn High School. Mrs. Shelley was a member at Messiah U.M. where she was active in the Joy Class, kitchen committee, and United Methodist Women.
She volunteered at Normandie Ridge, was a West Manchester Mall walker, and regularly walked to benefit the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Shelley had been a member and Sunday school teacher at the former St. Luke U.M. Church.
Mrs. Shelley is survived by two daughters, Linda S. and husband Dwight French of Silver Spring, Md., and Karen E. and husband Michael Hoffman of York; two grandchildren, Jennifer L. and husband, Joshua Brown and Juan L. French; four great-grandchildren, Nolan, Audrey, and Talia French and Sophia Brown; two brothers, Carl Stambaugh and William Stambaugh both of York; four sisters, Treva Deardorff of Bethesda, Md., Edna McDonald of Columbia, Florence Lankford of York, and Betty Airing of Dover. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Russell K. French; and four brothers.
Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
