Florence M. (Stambaugh) Lankford, 93, entered into the presence of her Lord on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. She was the wife of E. Raymond Lankford Jr. and celebrated 71 years of marriage on May 11, 2023.

Born in York on June 22, 1930, the daughter of Norman and Nettie (Lentz) Stambaugh. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three sons Dennis Lankford, Scott Lankford and his wife Victoria, David Lankford and his wife Rebecca all who reside in York. She is predeceased by daughter-in-law Candace Lankford.

Florence was raised in York, along with her 10 siblings and surviving are her sister Edna McDonald of Lancaster and two brothers Carl Stambaugh and William Stambaugh both of York. She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Other family members include four grandchildren, Kristin Harrold, Nathan Lankford, Kari Lankford, and Megan Lankford. In addition, there are seven great grandchildren that she cherished.

The entire family will continue to treasure family dinners, special holiday celebrations, family vacations and sporting activities, church fellowship events and some very competitive games of Skip-Bo. After raising her sons to school age years, she began part-time work for the Bon-Ton Department store as a sales clerk that further developed her shopping skills.

Florence was firmly grounded in her belief and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and in fellowship at North York Gospel Chapel. She was admired and respected by her fellow saints at the chapel and dedicated much of her life serving the Lord. She had a special spirit and love for family and lived a life of putting others above herself. She also took great pleasure in cooking many of her favorite dishes. She was a dedicated worker, loyal sister and shared her love for her family and her Lord. We love her and will greatly miss her until we meet again.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2023 at North York Gospel Chapel, 2854 Lewisberry Road, York. Burial will be private at Salem Union Cemetery.
