Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the First Christian church, in Converse, the Rev. Mr. Grubbs in charge, for Elmer Hayes, 61, who died suddenly at 9:30 p. m. Saturday at his home near Fairmount, where he had lived for 11 years. He had suffered a stroke three years ago. Burial was in Tharkill cemetery, near Swayzee.
The deceased was born in Grant County, Jan. 30, 1890, and was a member of the Christian church and the Masonic Lodge at Swayzee.
Survivors include the window; four sons, Lavern, of near Amboy; Gerald, of near Wabash; Verl, of near Huntington; and Guy, Marion; four daughters, Mrs. Charles Beall, Wabash; Mrs. Vaughn DeDecker, of near Fairmount; Mrs. Milford Adams, Oscaloosa, Iowa, and Mrs. Wayne Webb, near Fairmount; a brother, Albert Hayes, of near Amboy; a sister, Mrs. Floyd Stanley, near Converse, and 13 grandchildren.
