Mrs. Webb was a homemaker for most of her life--doting mother and grandmother, who loved nothing more than taking care of her family. She had always wanted to be an English teacher, but decided instead to marry and have a family.
She was keen on reading the newspaper and marking corrections to all of the incorrect grammar or typographical errors. Her other love was dancing. Early in her life, she went dancing as often as possible and especially loved doing the jitterbug.
She and her husband spent many evenings dancing and enjoying music at the American Legion in Fairmount. She was also a fan of Elvis Presley and was delighted with all of his music. She especially loved attending James Dean days in Fairmount every September. That meant meeting people from all ove the world and sharing high school memories and photos of plays in which she and James Dean acted together. He even asked her to come to Hollywood with him, but she had already decided to get married.
Mrs. Webb was a very special person and loved people. She was the kind of person who never met a stranger and would always help anyone in need.
She was the one-of-a-kind person that had a natural way of making everyone feel special. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her, worked with her over the years, and loved her for her fun and energetic personality and very generous and giving nature.
Surviving include her children, Michael W. (Bonnie), Cheryl (Sherry) A. Fihe, Steven (Sam) P. (Ruth), and Tamara S. (Tammy) Webb; grandchildren, Marie Seitz, Jennifer Soe, Jessica Kirby, Elizabeth A. (Fihe) Peterman, Tara M. Rodgers, and Holly A. Webb, and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Wayne; parents, Elmer and Edna Fern (Allen) Hayes; brothers, Lavern, Verl, Guy and Gerald; and sisters, Maxine (Short) Beal, Geraldine (Vaughn) DeDecker, and Burnadine (Milford) Adams.
A memorial service will be Saturday, July 28 at 1 p.m. at Eastview Wesleyan church, 414 North 10th street, Gas City.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Humane Society of grant County, 505 S. Miller Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953.
