Descendant of Daniel Callahan(1750-1826) who fought in the French and Indian War - present at the defeat of Braddock as well as the Battle of Bushy Run - and later, in the Revolutionary War. Daniel Callahan was one of the first settlers in the Pine Creek area of north central Pennsylvania.
Son of Oliver P. and Matilda Landis Callahan of Cedar Run, Lycoming County, PA; he married Nellie Mae Boatman 12 Sep 1888 in Corning, NY. They were the parents of nine children: Ina B. Callahan Smithgall of Tioga County PA, Ruth E. Callahan Bryan of New Castle PA, Leonard E. Callahan of Elmira NY, Lelia A. Callahan Furst of Franklin PA, William P. Calllahan of Wellsboro PA, Theo Mae Callahan Putman of Delmar Township Tioga County PA, Stuart James Callahan, Faye Irene Callahan Lawton of RD6 Wellsboro PA, and Elizabeth G. A.A. Callahan was a farmer, businessman, and operated a sawmill. Late in life he worked in the insurance business.
After Nellie Mae Boatman Callahan died in 1922, Andrew married another Nellie, Nellie Doane Bradford, who then died in 1933. Following that, A.A. Callahan wed a third time, to Fannie Love Kizer.
