Descendant of Claudius Boatman (1727-1819) memorial#28453884, a Huguenot immigrant who became a soldier, settler, hunter, and protector, eventually settling in the Little Pine Creek area only 30 miles from Delmar Twp., where Lelia grew up. Captain John Steel (1715-1779), memorial # 26434658, the "fighting parson" of the Conococheague, who commanded a company of his parishioners in the Kittanning expedition of 1756. Also from Daniel Callahan (1750-1826) who fought in the French and Indian War - present at the defeat of Braddock as well as the Battle of Bushy Run - and later, in the Revolutionary War; Daniel Callahan was also among the first settlers in the Pine Creek area of north central Pennsylvania.
