OBITUARY PROVIDED BY HAGAR FUNERAL HOME, BRANDENBURG, KY - 11/28/2011 - Mrs. Dorothy Leanda Whelan Adkisson, age 86, Ekron, KY, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Adkisson was a lifelong member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Adkisson, four brothers, Ken, Golan, James and Harry Whelan, and three sisters, Thelma Ray, Lucille Ray and Juanita Shircliffe. Mrs. Adkisson is survived by nine children, Donna (Leigh) Schenck, Alan (Paulette) Adkisson, Tim (Marilyn) Adkisson, Melinda (Carlos) Carrillo, Roselle (Kenny) Muse, all of Flaherty, KY, Deborah (Mike Jones) Gowen, Battletown, KY, Sonja (David) Whelan, Ronnie (Karen) Adkisson, Greg (Pam) Adkisson, all of Brandenburg, KY, 26 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, three sisters, Georgia Lee Hardesty, Lily Pike, Margaret Lancaster and a brother, Gene Whelan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, from St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hager Funeral Home in Brandenburg from 11 AM until 9 PM on Wednesday and after 8:00 AM on Thursday. Vigil Services will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday evening from the chapel of the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Martin of Tours Building Fund.
