Even though Virginia was married to Donald Bunce, she is buried under her maiden name of Shoemaker since Bunce murdered her and her parents. The family chose to have the burial this way.
She married to Donald E Bunce in Feb 1941. She died 5 months after being shot by Bunce on 13 Aug 1949.

Lyons Mother Dies of Wounds
Lyons - Mrs Virginia Bunce, 24, died Monday of wounds she suffered in a bloody shooting scrape in which three persons were killed last August.
Mrs Bunce was shot in the abdomen by her estranged husband, Don. Bunce also fatally wounded his wife's parents, Mr and Mrs Wilbur Shoemaker, before he was cut down and slain by the father's return gunfire.
Mrs Bunce, the mother of four children, never completely recovered. She died at 2 a.m.
She was born in Lyons, Sept 12, 1925, and lived here all her life.
She was a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors are the children, Donnie Joe, 7; Carolyn, 6; Patricia, 4; Cynthia, 2; a brother Howard Shoemaker, Lyons, and a sister, Mrs Evelyn LeClerk (LeClerc), Wichita, and her grandparents, Mr and Mrs S H (J C) Shoemaker, Lyons. The Bunce children are at the homes of relatives.
Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Crawford-Miller chapel with Rev L O Smith, officiating. Burial will be in the Lyons Cemetery.
The shooting in which Mrs Bunce was wounded started when her enraged husband broke into the home of his wife's parents, where she had been staying and opened fire.
