She was born in Alton, daughter of the late Henry and Katherine (Kohlmiller) Vahle.
She was first married to William John McDonald on December 20, 1919, he preceded her in death on March 25, 1926 in Herrin, Williamson, Illinois, USA.
On November 12, 1927 in Alton, she married John Lewis, who died August 25, 1979.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Henry Vahle; and three sisters, Mary Doerr, Yetta Penning, and Katherine Yost.
Surviving are three sons, John Lewis of Alton, William C. Lewis of Brighton, and Robert Lewis of Godfrey; 12 grandchildren; two sisters Elizabeth Doerr of Alton and Mildred Curry of Wood River; and a brother William Vahle of Alton.
Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
