REV. D.C. HERRELL
Rev. David Cummings Herrell, pastor of the Holley Baptist Church from 1905 to 1918, who returned to this village to make his home when he retired from the ministry in November, 1927, passed away in the Millard Fillmore Hospital at Buffalo on Sunday, August 2, 1936, aged eighty-eight years.
Mr. Herrell was born in Knoxville. Tennessee, the youngest of the twelve children of John and Sarah Herrell.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Guiles Herrell,and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held at the Baptist Church in this village Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. Richard Augustine, pastor of the church officiating, assisted by the Rev. James O. Smith of Medina and the Rev. Clyde Truax of West Edmeston, Otsego, County.
The remains were taken to Boxwood Cemetery at Medina for burial beside his first wife, whose death occurred during his pastorate in Holley. His only son, George Herrell of Salamanca, passed away in 1918.
