ALFRED W. PITTS FUNERAL IS HELD TODAY AT ROANOKE
ROANOKE---Funeral services for Alfred W. Pitts, 86, who died at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Brownsville, Tenn., were held this afternoon in the Roanoke Baptist Church. Burial was in the Roanoke cemetery.
Mr. Pitts, native of Roanoke, was living in Brownsville with a daughter, Mrs. John T. Gray.
He developed pneumonia after suffering a fall two weeks ago. His son, Foster Pitts of Roanoke, spent several days with him after he fell.
Surviving relatives include another son, S. Y. Pitts of Valley Springs, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Josh Hunker of Salisbury; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Pitts' wife, the former Miss Zannie May Denny of Roanoke, died in February, 1942.
Mr. Pitts, member of a prominent Roanoke family, had been ill for several years. He was born on the Pitts farm east of Roanoke and lived in the community until several years ago when he moved to the home of his daughter in Tennessee.
Mr. and Mrs. Gray accompanied the body to the Snow Funeral Home at Moberly yesterday. From there it was taken to Roanoke.
