"HARTWICK - Mrs. Carrie R. Mathewson died Monday, July 8th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Risley. She had been ill for five months. Mrs. Mathewson was born August 11, 1862, daughter of Theron and Harriet (Reynolds) Bissell. She was married to Benton Balcom, who died in 1892. About five years later she was married to Cassius Mathewson. Surviving besides her daughter, Mrs. Risley, are a grandson, Ford B. Risley, and a great-grandson, William Darrell Risley, all of Hartwick. She had lived most of her life in this place and was a member of Hartwick Rebekah lodge and the W.S.C.S. of the Methodist church. Funeral was held at the Maxwell Funeral home Thursday at 2 p. m.
