MRS. BRYCE W. STEPHENS, PONSFORD RESIDENT SUCCUMBS to DIPHTHERIA

Mrs. Bryce W. Stephens, pioneer resident of Ponsford community died Friday at St. Joseph's hospital in this city, with the dread diphtheria, from which she had been ill only five days. Her sudden passing comes as a distinct shock to the community as well as the family as few were aware that she was even ill.

Mabel Florence Witter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Witter, was born September 19, 1887 at Osage. She attended the rural schools and later Park Rapids high school, from which she was graduated.

On July 4, 1907 she was united in marriage to Bryce W. Stephens in Detroit Lakes. Their entire married life was lived near Ponsford.

The beautiful life and influence of Mrs. Stephens speaks for itself. She was a devoted wife, companion and mother, her whole married life being devoted to her home and children. She made friends of all who came within the circle of her acquaintance, and took part in all activities in the community. She leaves the cherished memory of a life filled with kindly deeds and wish of bringing happiness to others.

Private funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Frazey Funeral Home, Rev. C. H. Peters officiated and burial was made in Greenwood cemetery in Park Rapids. There was an abundance of beautiful floral offerings.

Pallbearers were the sons and sons-in-law, Ray Enfield, Ralph Langguth, Buster West, and Leon, Willard, and Robert Stephens.
