He was born Oct. 4. 1894 in Carson Township to Abraham and Hattie (Morrison) Witter. He was raised in the Carson Township and attended Linnell School to the eighth grade. He was a farmer, worked at Noeske Lumber Mill and operated a berry farm. He had been a resident at Sunset Nursing Home since September 1961. He and his wife had lived at River Heights Apartments for 12 years.
He married Etta Gilpin on July 15, 1915 at Park Rapids.
Survivors include his wife Etta of Sunset Nursing Home; two sons; Maynard of Pine Bluffs, Ark., and Michael of Mora; four daughters; Mrs. Winifred (Alfred) Poole of Melbourne, Fla., Evelyn Wilcox of Park Rapids, Mrs. Fred (Shirley) Schmitt of Anoka, and Mrs. Richard (Patricia) Corporaal of Pensicola, Fla., one sister; Eve Donahue of Turlock, Calif., 21 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Helen Jean, one brother and three sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday, March 18, at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Corporaal officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Lance Witter, Michael Stearns, Ray Hinkley, Robert Wilcox, Doug Corporaal, David Corporal, Dick Poole, and Dennis Wilcox.
Interment will be in the Osage Cemetery with arrangements handled by Jones Funeral Home of Park Rapids.

PARK RAPIDS, Minn. - Robert L. Witter and Miss Etta Gilpin, both of Osage, were united in marriage, Tuesday, July 13, by Justice Winship in Park Rapids. The many friends of the happy couple extend hearty congratulations.
