Abraham Lincoln Witter, "Linc" as he was known locally, was born at Clarksville, Iowa, the son of Fannie and Benjamin Baltzer Witter.
He came to Carsonville Township, Becker county Minnesota in 1880, being a part of the very first settlers in the area and except for two years spent his entire life in Becker county at Osage.
In 1885 he married Hattie Morrison in Wadena, Minnesota. They were parents of six children, Robert, Eva, Sidney, Carrie, LuLu and Mabel.
After the death of his wife Hattie in 1926 he was remarried to Fannie Way in October of 1933.
Abraham served as secretary-treasurer of the school board, secretary-treasurer of the Town Board, Assessor for a number of years and secretary-treasurer of the Union Telephone Company.
He organized the first Sunday School in eastern Becker county and was the superintendent, teacher and janitor. He was also was a big part in establishing the first school in Osage.
