James Morton Stephenson (son of Reuben W. Stephenson and Elizabeth Givens Bowen)married Tena Quiltency Bland on May 12, 1892. They farmed on the old Reuben W. Stephenson farm near Ten Mile, Lewis County, Missouri. He called the place the “Sugar Maple Homestead”. He was an exceptional farmer and won many prizes at county and state fairs. He was active in church and community affairs. He was a member of the Garnet Grange and was given a Golden Sheaf Certificate for 50 years of membership. In addition to their own children James and Tena took in a niece and several nephews. Shortly before his death he wrote: “now I’m leaving my beautiful old home, I have not a care or regret for I go to the home of my vision beyond the sunset to be with my Heavenly Father and loved ones waiting there.” Tena died January 15, 1941 in Missouri.
