On January 31, 1953, Beulah was married to Carl D. Holmes.
Beulah was an active member and Deaconess of The First Christian Church on Kane St. in Roseburg and an outstanding volunteer at Mercy Medical Center for over twenty-two years with many awards for her service and dedication. Beulah also enjoyed sewing, camping and spending time with her family.
Beulah is survived by her loving husband of 52 years Carl, and two children, Carla D. Rowland-Shirley and her husband, Donald Shirley of Roseburg; and W. Dennis Holmes and his wife, Shellie Holmes of Sutherlin, Oregon. Beulah is also survived by her sister, Phyllis Stevenson of Marysville, Washington; two sisters-in-law, Genell Kinsel and her husband, Leonard of Roseburg and Janie Guthrie and her husband, Bill of Roseburg. Beulah had one grandchild, Garrett D. Rowland, who was the apple of her eye; four step-grandson's, Luke A. Shirley; Brett A. Whiting; Tyler S. Whiting; and Mitchell K. Whiting, all of Roseburg.
Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Hazel and four siblings, Grace Wood; Phyllis Stevenson; Wendle Carpenter; and Lawrance Carpenter, who passed away as a child.
Services will be officiated by Bruce Russell at the First Christian Church on Monday, September 19, 2005, at 1 p.m., at 432 S.E. Kane Street, Roseburg, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The First Christian Church in her memory. Beulah's final resting place will be at Memorial Gardens.
