Survivors include four daughters, Judy (Tom) Marsh, Mary Jean Holstein, Julie (Rick) Lomax and Joy (Elvis) Ford and one son, Roger (Kathryn) Freed, all of Danville; two brothers, Melvin and Marvin Freed; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He served in the U.S. Army in World War II in the Pacific from Hawaii to the occupation of Japan, making three landings, twice wounded and receiving three Bronze Stars.
