Born April 27, 1887 in Alabama, Mrs. Close was the daughter of James and Mary Burns Ross. She was preceded in death in 1967 by her husband, Odie O. Close, whom she married in 1907 in Hopkins County. She was also preceded in death by a son, James Haskell Close.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Opal Waggoner of New London and Mrs. Margaret Rogers of Canton; a son, Elmer Close of Ridgeway; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Ridgeway Union Church with the Rev. O. E. Short officiating. Interment was in Ridgeway Cemetery. Grandsons were pallbearers
