MARION - Boyd Atkinson, 78, died Tuesday in a local hospital. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Brothers Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Reedy Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Atkinson was born in Marion County, a son of David Julius and Emma Waller Atkinson.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Minnie Coleman Atkinson; two sons, Boyd Atkinson Jr. and Robert Atkinson, both of Marion; two sisters, Miss Leona Atkinson and Miss Edith Atkinson, both of Mullins; two brothers, W. J. Atkinson of Rains and T. C. Atkinson of Mullins; and 8 grandchildren.
