FORSYTH, MT. - Gene Taylor Ashenhurst, age 79, of Forsyth, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2007, at the Billings Clinic in Billings.

Gene was born on Oct. 8, 1927, in Wheatland, Wyo., to Floy and Harry Ashenhurst.
He was educated in Wheatland, graduating in 1946. Gene joined the Army in 1946 and spent two years in Japan. After the service, he joined his mother and father in
Montana on a ranch on Armells Creek.

In 1950, he married Viola Isabell and they had three daughters. She passed away in
1954 and Gene married Dorothy White in 1957.

Gene spent his life living on, working and enjoying his ranch. He raised registered
quarter horses and was proud when the 4-H kids would show them at horse shows and fairs. He team roped for as long as his health would permit and won many buckles.
He was in the bowling league for many years and enjoyed playing cards with family and
friends.

Gene retired in 1998 and together he and Dorothy moved into Forsyth, where they have
resided since.

Gene is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his daughters, Connie (Alan) Wray of Clarkston, Wash., Christy (Chris) Nielsen of Forsyth and Karen Cantrell of Park
City, Utah; grandsons, Bryan (Mai ling) and J.R. (Shaye); granddaughters, Jodi, Ashley, Chelsie and Lindsey; his two sisters, Betty Rhinehart and Reba Johnston. He
is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

His parents; his sister, Gail; and his brother, Hal, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 8, from 1 to 7 p.m., in the chapel of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 9, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home of Forsyth.

Burial will follow in the family lot of the Forsyth Cemetery, Forsyth, MT.

Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home of Forsyth is in charge of these arrangements.
