Teddy Basham, age 79, of 210 E. College St., Scio, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 13, 2007.

Born April 22, 1927, in Freeport, he was a son of the late George W. and Anna Williams Basham.

He was a World War II veteran serving as a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy.

Teddy was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved country music. He was a carpenter by trade and was a past member of the Ohio Carpenters Union.

He worked for Consolidated Coal Co. where he retired as a mechanic for their Egypt Valley Mine. He had also worked underground at Franklin 25.

In Teddy's earlier years he had been a police officer in Hilliard, O., and was also a retired Scio Police Chief and a Harrison County Deputy.

Teddy was a member of the Scio American Legion Post 482, Steubenville Scottish Rite, a 32nd Degree Mason belonging to the Scio Blue Lodge 587, an honorary member of the Scio VFD, and he belonged to the Carrollton Bible Chapel.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Alicia "Alice" Costantini Basham, whom he married Sept. 5, 1954, and raised a family with in Scio; an infant brother, Luther B., and an infant sister, Mary Melinda Basham; brother, John Basham; sisters, Clara Packer and Virginia Brewer; sister and bother-in-law, Enola and Dick Edwards.

Surviving are children, Rolland (Bernadette) Basham of North Beach, Md., Anna (John) Mahoney of Scio, Bill (Judy) Basham of Altus, Okla., Marcia (Larry) Manbeck of New Athens, Thaddeus (Mary) Basham of Pebbles and Ralph (Polly) Basham of Scio; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; stepmother, Gaye Basham of Flat Top, W.Va.; brothers, George (Sara) Basham and Robert (Mary) Basham, both of Tippecanoe, Charles Basham of Elgin, Ill., and James (Barbara) Basham of Dade City, Fla.; sister-in-law, Bertha Basham of Washington, Mo.; brothers-in-law, Sonny Brewer of Butler, Fla., and Albert Packer of Grandville; and many nieces, nephews and special friends.

Friends may call Friday, March 16, 2007, at Koch Funeral Home at Scio from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with a Masonic service being held at 6:45 p.m. Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor James Mathews officiating.
