FINAL RITES FOR JESS SHOEMAKER
Jess Shoemaker, son of Hiram and Della Shoemaker, was born March 24, 1884, at Imogene, Iowa. Here he grew to manhood.
He united in marriage July 21, 1904 with Olga Lundberg of Essex, Iowa. To this happy union were born two children. In 1907, they moved to Coburg, Iowa where they farmed until 1919, when they moved to a farm near Bartlett, Iowa.
Mrs. Shoemaker departed this life October 9, 1940.
In 1944, Mr. Shoemaker made his home in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Here he closed his journey on this earth November 23, 1948 at the age of 64 years and 8 months.
Leaving to mourn this loss are one son, James of Linn Springs, Iowa; one daughter, Mrs. Lena Rickabaugh of Bartlett; one granddaughter, Donna Irene Shoemaker; one brother, George of Essex, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Maggie Abbott of Nebraska City, Nebraska, and several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Services were held Friday, November 26, 1948, from the Raynor Chapel with the Rev. J. W. Taenzler officiating.
Music was furnished by Shirley Lincoln, Jr. with Mrs. Dorsey Roll at the piano.
Casket bearers were Fay Buckingham, David Richardson, Guy Utterback, Frank Curtis, Homer Hockabout, and Luther Johnson.
Flower bearers were Mrs. David Richardson and Mrs. Fay Buckingham.
Interment was in the Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, Mills County, Iowa.

Glenwood - Funeral services will be held at the Raynor chapel in Glenwood at 2 p.m. Friday for Jeff Shoemaker, 64, who died Tuesday at his home in Nebraska City, Neb. The Rev. J. W. Taenzler will officiate. Burial will be in Glenwood cemetery. Shoemaker lived all his life in the Bartlett community until he moved to Nebraska City about four years ago. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Elmer Rickabaugh of Bartlett; one son, James Shoemaker of Lime Springs; one brother, George Shoemaker of Essex; one sister, Mrs. Maggie Abbott of Nebraska City, Neb.; and one granddaughter.
