Benjamin Earl Bond was the son of John J. Crittenden Bond and Cordelia Hawkins. Ben moved to Tulsa in 1905 with his family. He attended schools here and St. Gregory's College in Shawnee. On February 7, 1920 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Ben married Anna Mae Woodburn.

Ben built an independent gasoline refinery at Bristow, Oklahoma during the 1920's. He later went into the butane and propane industry, creating the Lightning Gas Company which had operations in Oklahoma, Texas, Illinois, Kansas, and Kentucky. After retirement in 1961, Ben devoted a great deal of time to promoting western artist Robert Lindneux. He helped promote a showing of the artist's work at Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa.

Ben is survived by his son, William; two daughters, Martha and Mary; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
