Son of John Wilton Purrington and Mae Williams. He married Emma Marie Paulson on 28 December 1912 and six children were born to them. They are: Wilburt, Lowell, Wilma, Doris, Dorothy and William Jr.

William B. Purrington, son of John and Mae Williams Purrington, was born in Great Bend Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota on November 13, 1891. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and received his education in the County rural schools. On December 28, 1912, William Purrington and Emma Paulson were united in marriage in Dale Township. Six children came to bless their marriage. With the exception of three years spend farming near Sargeant, Minnesota, 1924 to 1927; Bill had spent his entire life in the Windom community. He had farmed a number of years, twice had operated a Dray Line in Windom, and had worked for the Minnesota State Highway Department for over 20 years. Mrs. Purrington passed away on February 11, 1970.On February 13, 1971 William Purrington and Senora Grev were united in marriage and have made their home in Windom. Bill was a member of the Windom American Lutheran Church. He had been an active member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge for many years. Having concern for the community in which he lived Bill also had served on the Windom City Council. For the past several years Bill had suffered a heart condition and was last admitted to the Windom Hospital on Sun-day, May 21, 1972. Bill passed away at the Windom hospital at 1:00 a.m. Tuesday, Mary 23, 1972. At the time of his death was 80 years, 6 months and 10 days of age. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Emma, and one son, three brothers, one granddaughter and one great granddaughter. Bill is survived by two sons and three daughters; Wilburt and Lowell of Windom, Minn., Wilma (Mrs. Robert Kissner) of Lamberton, Minn., Dorothy (Mrs. Mervin Carlblom) of Mt. Lake, Minn., Doris (Mrs. George Bakalyar) of Windom, Minn., in addition to 21 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers and two sisters; Glenn and Lawrence Purrington of Seattle, Washington, Dale Purrington
