Funeral services were conducted last Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at the Prairie Hill Methodist Church by the Rev. M. G. Jacobs for A.J. (Mac) Houston, who died May 29, in a Moberly hospital.
Mr. Houston was born on a farm southwest of Prairie Hill January 17,, 1886. He was the son of the late Clarence and Alta Houston ad his grandparents were among the first settlers in Chariton County.
He attended Edmonson rural school and later was a pupil of U.S. Hall at Prairie Hill Academy.
He and Miss Minnie Talkington were married December 25, 1917, and they were the parents of one son, A.J. Houston, Jr.
He lived most of his life in the Prairie Hill community, but because of ill health he had to move to climatic conditions suited to his illness. He later located on a farm near Moberly, and let a semi-retired life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Miss Bertha Houston and one brother, Earl Houston.
Survivors include his wife, the son, a grandson, Gregg Steven Houston of Kansas City, one brother, J.W. Houston, and two sisters, Mrs. Maud Houston Stigall and Mrs. Edna Houston McCrary, all of Moberly.
Pall bearers ere: Gilbert Houston, William Lee Ray Ricardson, Elvin Richardson, Harry Talkington and Joe W. Houston.
Burial was at Prairie Hill.
