Obituary for Michael Dumler (aka George Michael Dumler)

July 8, 1915 - The Russell Record - Obituary
Michael Dumler was born at Gratzke, Russia, January 10, 1833 (sic), and came to Russell County in 1878 and settled on a farm. Some years ago he moved to Russell, where on July 1, 1915, he died at the age of eighty-two years, 5 months and 21 days, leaving his widow, Mrs. Eva Dumler, and five sons, Michael Dumler, Jr., Fritz Dumler, David Dumler, George Dumler, Jacob Dumler and four daughters: Mrs. Christina Heinze, Mrs. John Steinert and Misses Marie and Katie Dumler. All live in Russell County, except Fritz Dumler, who lives in Oklahoma, to mourn the loss of a good husband and father. George Jacob Dumler, another son, died some years ago. Funeral services were held at the German Lutheran Church (Missouri) at Milberger by Rev. L. Zehner on Saturday and interment was made in the cemetery there. Mr. Dumler had a reputation of being as honest as the day is long. His word was absolutely good with all who knew him. It is said that at one time he had an obligation at the bank which would have come due at a certain time. Two of his boys were working in eastern Kansas and turning in their wages in on this indebtedness, but for some reason the money did not get here as soon as the deceased had expected it and for fear his obligation would not be met, he got on the train and brought back the money and paid it on his obligation. His word was as good as his bond.
