2 July 1898 South Bend Times-Miss Ollie (Olive)Gillis, daughter of Mr. & Mrs Louis Gillis, of Union township, died at 5 o'clock Friday evening of a complication of diseases probably the result of an attack of the grip last January. Her age was 12 years, nine months and 28 days. Besides her parents she leaves two brothers Charles H Gillis & twin brother Albert Gillis and two half sisters, Mrs. Charles Bestle of this county, and Mrs. Charles Mangun of Elkhart county. She joined the Brethren church three years ago and was a consistent christian. The funeral took place Sunday forenoon at 10 o'clock from the Brethren church south of Lakeville, Rev I.N.Miller officiating and the remains were intered in the Mount Pleasant cemetery northwest of south Bend.
Note: Olive Gillis is the daughter of Lewis Gillis & Angeline Mangun Gillis. Twins Albert Gillis and Olive were born in 26 Aug 1885. Brothers Albert Gillis died in 1932 and his burial is in the Fair Cemetery.Charles H.Gillis born 17 Feb 1881 died 17 Jan 1953 buried in the County Line Brethren Church Cemetery.
