After a lingering illness he passed away on Thursday January 30 1947, at his home where he had been cared for by his wife and sons. The deceased had reached the age of 67 years, 9 months and 22 days.
In 1908 he was united in marriage to Nettie Phelps and to this union three sons were born. Alf, as he was familiarly called, was a loving husband and father and a kind neighbor, always ready to help whenever needed. His faith was in God to the end.
Those left to mourn his death are his wife Nettie, and his three sons, Darwin, Russell and Dewey of Coloma, three brothers Arthur of Wyocena Delbert and Roy of Hancock, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Swenson of Coloma, and Mrs. Emma Banks of Hancock, a brother-in-law, Ralph Hilton of Coloma, three grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
