Walter Howard Batis was born Oct. 8, 1916, in Waco. He was a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Seminary and was chaplain with the Lighthouse For The Blind. He was a longtime member of Overton Park United Methodist and was currently a member of Lane Prairie Baptist Church.
Survivors: Wife of 58 years, Mary Batis; son, Billy Howard Batis and wife, Bettie; daughter, Mary Kay Amos and husband, Kenny; and grandchildren, Bill Batis Jr. and wife, Jennifer, Joan Boyd and husband, Wesley, Jennifer Shelton and husband, Matt, Barbee Phillips and husband, Lance, Michelle Mendoza and husband, Robert, Nikki Blum and husband, Chris; and 11 great-grandchildren.
