Mary Ruth Batis, 93, devoted mother and Christian, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Mary was born July 12, 1919, in Grandview to Morris "Boss" and Ada Garner. She was a Sunday school teacher, Weight Watchers adviser and loved to cook. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, the Rev. Walter Howard Batis; her brother; and two sisters. Survivors: Son, Billy Howard Batis and wife, Bettie; daughter, Mary Kay Amos and husband, Kenny; grandchildren, Bill Batis Jr. and wife, Kim, Joan Boyd and husband, Wesley, Jennifer Shelton and husband, Matt, Barbee Hulen and husband, Pastor Keith, Michelle Dowell and husband, Don, and Nikki Blum and husband, Chris; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
