Susannah was the fifth child and eldest daughter of 19 children (5 daughters) born to Nicholas PYLE and Ann BLACK.

In 1784 Susannah's family lived in the Pendelton District of South Carolina (currently Anderson County). The "Old Families of Randolph County Missouri" describes her father, Nicholas PYLE, as an "Indian doctor". Nicholas moved the family, traveling on horseback, to Christian County, Kentucky about 1793 when Susannah was 7 years old.

8 APRIL 1805 a marriage license was issued to Susannah and William Henry BROOKS in Christian County. According to the family Bible they were married 16 APRIL by William's father, Jesse BROOKS. John ROUTH was a witness.

Seven children were born to Susannah and William in Kentucky:

18 AUG 1818 William's father Jesse BROOKS died in Hopkinsville, Christian County, Kentucky.

In 1818 Susannah's parents, Nicholas & Ann PYLE, left Kentucky and moved to St. Clair County, Illinois.

24 OCT 1819 William and Susannah started with their family from Kentucky.

6 DEC 1819 their daughter (8) Martha Ann (BROOKS) BROOKS (1819-1898) was born, and

7 DEC 1819 William and Susannah stopped on the Monitor, a small creek in Missouri two or three miles east of Higbee, Randolph County, Missouri.

Two more daughters were born in Randolph County.

On the 1850 census Susannah age 63, her husband William (a farmer age 65, $1,500 property value), their son Benjamin (a farmer age 32, $500 value), and his wife Sarah (age 17) were living in Silver Creek Twp., Randolph County, Missouri.

30 SEPTEMBER 1854 William died; Susannah signed the estate settlement on 10 OCTOBER 1854.

On the 1860 census Susannah (age 74) is listed as a member of the family, living with her son Benjamin (age 43, farmer, $9,000 personal property, $14,000 farm valued) his wife Sarah (age 26) and their children, William (age 9), Orpha J. (age 7) and Correan (age 2) in Renick, Prairie Twp, Randolph County, Missouri.

Susannah died 20 FEB 1861, in Higbee, Randolph County, Missouri.

The old Brooks farm and burying ground is between Renick and Higbee, Randolph County, Missouri.
