Eva B. Mather Payn, mother of Bert Payn, passed away Saturday, January 12th at 6:30 p.m. at her late home on North Main Street, Castile, after a lingering illness of many years, having been confined to her bed the last four months.
Mrs. Payn was the adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hawley Mather of Warsaw. As a young woman she attended the Warsaw high school and Leroy Institute.
In September 1880 she was united in marriage to Walter J. Payn of Portageville. She is survived by her husband and six children, Mrs. LaRena Brewer of Rochester, Bert of Perry, Victor, Harry, Belle and Sylvia of Castile. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon, January 15th at 2:30 o'clock with Rev. Daisy F. Eggleston of the Methodist Episcopal church and Rev. Henry Stevens of Community church officiating. Interment was in the Portageville Cemetery.
