L C and the mother of Thomas.
∼Elizabeth BRASHEAR Wingfield was born the daughter of Basil Brashear and his 1st wife Nancy MIDDLETON Brashear. Her Brashear(s) family migrated south from the Wabash Region of Crawford Co, IL to Hempstead Co, AR in the late-1830's, but Elizabeth's mother Nancy died soon after their family arrived when Elizabeth was only 12 years old.
On 10 Apr 1845, Elizabeth was married to Lewis Garrett Wingfield in Hempstead Co, AR where he was born and raised. The young couple began a family here and sometime in the mid-1850's the family migrated south down the Red River Valley through Louisiana, and into Texas where her husband was appointed US Postmaster in the early Texas settler farming community of Morales de Lavaca, Jackson Co, TX in the year 1857/8.
Within a couple of years the family migrated from there to Central Texas living in Bell Co, TX in the year 1860. Elizabeth's husband Lewis was drafted into the American Civil War, 1861-1865. Thankfully, he returned home to his wife and children in the small farming community of Oenaville, Bell Co, TX. Here Lewis Garrett Wingfield and Elizabeth BRASHEAR Wingfield are laid to rest.
