Mrs. Kettman died at 7:45 Saturday morning at her home on a farm three miles southwest of Templeton, where she had lived since her marriage forty-three years ago. She had been in failing health the past few months.
Mrs Kettman was born Catherine Fernading, daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Fernading, Oct 8, 1881 in Washington Township, Carroll county. Her marriage to Gerhard Kettman took place Oct 10, 1899 at Sacred Heart church here.
After the death of her husband Aug 20, 1941, she continued to live on the farm with her daughter, Anna, and son, George.
She was the mother of six children, five of who survive: Mrs George Willenborg (Catherine) Dedham; Mrs Ben Willenborg (Mayme) Templeton; Anna and George at home, and Mrs William Kalkhoff (Elsie), Templeton. One daughter, Emma, died Jan 21, 1923.
She also leaves her mother, Mrs. Mary Fernading, of Templeton; eleven grandchildren; three brothers, Joe Fernading of Storm Lake; John at home; Frank of Washington Township; and one sister, Anna at home. Three brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Mrs Kettman was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Christian Mothers Socality of the parish.
