Isaac S. Faunce was born on February 6, 1808 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His parents, Conrad Faunce and Marie Elizabetha Baldt Faunce, had him baptized in the First German Reformed Church on May 8, 1808. On April 20, 1834 he and Elizabeth Wilen were married in the First Presbyterian Church of Kensington in Philadelphia. They lived in Philadelphia, probably on Richmond Street, were they had six children; Anna Maria, Isaac S, George C, Julia Ann, Joseph Baker, and Amanda E. Isaac worked as a fisherman. His death certificate states that he was a shipwright.

He was living with his son Joseph and Joe's family at 529 Richmond Street when he died on February 1, 1882. He died of paralysis. He was buried in the Palmer Grounds on February 5, 1882.
