Winona Zulina Seale was the daughter of Joseph Coulson Seale, Jr. and Mary Franklin Spring and the wife of W. H. Hammons. The couple had two children, Willie and Jim, but they died at birth. Nona was the guardian of Cleora Jones upon the death of her sister Sarah (Sallie) Murphee Seale.

At the time of her death she lived at 2921 McKinney in Herty. She died at 12:15 AM on June 15, 1964. The services were held at Gipson's Funeral Home on Tuesday June 16, 1966 at 3:30 PM with Rev. Luther Dillard presiding. Nona was a Baptist in Herty. She died of heart problems. She and her husband lived in Angelina County most of their lives.
