Anita Louise Adams of Columbia died Thursday, June 14, 2007, at The Cedars in Chesterfield after a long struggle with ALS. Her death came just a few days before her 70th birthday. A brief graveside service took place at 11 a.m. Monday, June 18, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia. Mrs. Adams was born Sept. 6, 1937, in Jefferson City to Marie and LeRoy Sellenschutter of Hermann. She was a graduate of Hermann High School. She was married on Dec. 20, 1959, in Hermann to George C. Adams. He preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 1975. Mrs. Adams earned a bachelor of science in education and a masters in education from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She spent six years working as an administrator in the housing office at MU during the 1960s, eight years as a teacher in Columbia Public Schools and 11 years as principal at Russell Boulevard Elementary. Survivors include two sons, Brian Adams and his wife, Desi, of Pasadena, Calif., and Dr. Stuart Adams and his wife, Susan, of Creve Coeur; three grandchildren; and her great-uncle, Ralph Sellenschutter of Hermann.
