Moses Harris, son of Moses, was b. 8 July 1775 and d. Queensbury 22 Aug. 1859, ae. 84-1-14, bur. Harrisena Cem. He m. (1) Lois Jenkins, b. 1775, dau. of John Jenkins (q.v.) and d. 22 May 1823, ae. 48y 5m, bur. with him. He m. (2) Moreau 9 May 1824 (by Judge William Hay) Mary (-----) Shaw, b. c. 1794 in CT; d. Sandy Hill 20 Aug. 1884, ae. 90-2-15, at residence of her dau. Nancy Ameden, bur. Union Cem. Her obituary listed other survivors as stepdau. Kate Phetteplace, stepson Liflett Harris, son Elias Harris, and J. B. Shaw of Norwich CT, a son by her first marriage. She celebrated her 90th birthday at dau. Nancy's residence in Sandy Hill. Attending was a niece, Mrs. Naomi White of Collins, Erie County; the account stated that Mrs. White had had been present at the death of two other aunts, sisters of Mrs. Harris, within the last fifteen months. Mary res. on Main St., near Walnut, at Sandy Hill 1879-84. Moses was listed at Queensbury in 1800 (10100/10100), 1810 (21010/20010), 1820 (120101/11001/03), and at Kingsbury in 1830 (Moses Jr., 10030001/010111). He moved to Caldwell c. 1834 and was listed there in 1840 (001010001/0001001), 1850 and 1855. With him at Caldwell in 1850 were son Elias and second wife. In 1855, Moses was called a farmer and had the same household. Warren County conveyances by Moses called him of Queensbury in 1826 (G/113), Kingsbury in 1829 (E/225) and 1833 (G/118), and thereafter in Caldwell, 1836-1841. He served in Lt. Amos Green's Co., New York Militia, in the War of 1812 and received a pension. He was highway commissioner of Queensbury 1806-9 and pathmaster in 1811, 1812, 1817, and 1832. His nickname was "Muckee." Children, as deduced from proceedings in Carr Jenkins estate (q.v.), all but last by first wife:

>From Ohio to visit his sister; He returned to kingsbury about 1827 and remarried. His 2nd wife was Mary, b. 1794 in the state of Conn. They had son named Elias S. Harris, b. 1828 in Kingsbury.
There was a 19 to 20 year difference in their ages. He remarried at the age of 52 yr. and she was 33 yr. at the time. Elias S. Harris was born June 8, 1828 in Kingsbury where they were living at the time.
When Elias S. Harris was 4 years old, in 1832 the family moved to Caldwell (Lake George), NY. They are on the 1850 & 1855 Caldwell Census.

Near Sherrill, so could bet he Harris'es boarding House. Where Sullivan's Drug Store is now. (.....But is Ned W. Westal and Cordelial Westal (aged 27).

In 1850 Moses B. and Mary owned and ran "Harris'es Boarding House," in Caldwell, NY. Moses B. Harris, a former Farmer in his younger days, now operated a scow for the purpose of carrying wood and lumber on Lake George. He was 75 years of age at this time. Elias, his son, who accompanied him at various times learned the navigation of the Lake at the side of his father.
Neither Moses B. or wife Mary were on the 1865 Caldwell Census. I know not when Mary died, but Moses B. Harris died August 22, 1859 and is buried in "Harrisena Cemetery".
The above would thus make Elias S. Harris a half brother to John Jay Harris owner and buildre of the "Steamship John Jay". Elias S. Harris was 31 years of age when his father died. Also, he must have taken over the running and ownership of the "Harrs House" as it was called.

Moses Harris September 23, 1819 - A Bill of Sale from Moses Harris, (a cow, one calf, 2 hogs, 1 sow and 3 pigs, all farm Imp. and Household furnishings, to Moses Harris Jr. for $600.00. He must have taken this money, with his family and left for Ohio in 1819. We note his wife died in 1822, two years after he left for Ohio.
