The 8th child of William Collier Maxey and Delilah Helm. Samuel was born in Xenia, Clay Co. IL, The following year (1873) the family moved to Cleburn, Johnson Co. TX. He was only two when his mother died (1874)and he was raised by his stepmother. Samuel was listed in his father's household in the 1880 census of Johnson Co.
In June 1903 Samuel married Mrs. Adella (Hudson) Ford. They are both buried in the Ringgold Cemetery in Montague Co. TX.
He was the Father of 4 children
