SANDY RIDGE - Etta Mae Amos Wood, 81, of 3004 Amostown Road, Sandy Ridge, died Friday, May 21, 2004, at the home of her son, Terrence Wood. Mrs. Wood Was born May 4, 1923, in Stokes County, the daughter of Jack Amos and Lottie Joyce Amos. She was employed at the Madison Throwing Plant No. 1 for 10 years and was a member of the Sandy Ridge Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Ervin Wood, in 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Wood Hayden of Madison; her sons, Ronnie E. Wood and wife Brenda of Sandy Ridge and Terrence S. Wood and wife Natalie of Madison; her brothers, Lowell and Lee Amos of Sandy Ridge; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 23, at Ray Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Billy Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at the Amos Family Cemetery in Sandy Ridge. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, May 22, at the funeral home and all other times at the home of Terrence Wood, 8403 N.C. 704, Madison. Memorial contributions may be made to the Amos Family Cemetery Fund and Hospice of Rockingham County, P.O. Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375. Ray Funeral Home of Madison is in charge of arrangements.
